The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and the benefits of Allah) was born in Mecca on the morning of the 12th of Rabi al-Awwal, which was April 20th or 22nd, 570 or 571 AD, during the Year of the Elephant. He was born into the Hashim clan of the Quraysh tribe, which was the noblest of all tribes. The holy genealogy of the Prophet (peace be upon him) traces back to Adam through Ibrahim (Abraham), son of Ismail (Ishmael) (peace be upon them), key figures among the Prophets in Islam.

And even though Arabs were polygamous at the time, the prophet (peace be upon him) never married any other women while Khadijah (may Allah be pleased with her) was still alive.

He would go to the highlands outside Mecca, where he would spend a long period alone, praying and thinking about God. There were instances when he was alone for days at a time. He adored Cave of Hira on Jabal al-Nour, the mountain of Light, the most. It was a beautiful peak that rose over Mecca. He was about forty years old when he went to visit during Ramadan in 610. That's when something happened with Muhammad (peace be upon him) that changed his life completely.
