Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said, "Each of you has two chains hanging from your head. One goes up to the seventh heaven, and the other goes down to the seventh earth." When someone is modest, Allmighty Allah raises him to the chain of the seventh heaven. If he is too proud, a chain that is on the seventh earth pulls him down. Abir (may Allah be pleased with him) said: A prophet named Noah (peace be upon him) told his son, "I will tell you of deeds that will never make you proud."
He tied a sheep to a donkey, wore wool, sat with poor believers, and ate with his children. It is talked about in "Firdaws." Qais bin Hazim claimed that Umar bin Al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) traveled to Sham once. He and his servant played a game of rotation. At first, Umar rode the she-camel while the servant led her by the reins. This way, they would go one farsakh[1]. After that, they would switch places, with Umar walking and the servant riding. When they got to Sham, it was the servant's time to ride. Umar got off the she-camel and led her by the reins. There was a river in the way of their journey, so Umar sprinted across it, clutching the bridle with one hand and pinching his sandals under his armpit with the other.
